“Where did I come from?”
When asked by a young child the above question has the potential to make parents cringe, but with today’s interest in genealogy it takes on a completely different connotation. People want to know the ethnic backgrounds of their ancestors.
It is interesting to note that nationality is not particular to people. Domestic animals also have a country of origin and chickens are no exception. Chicken breeds are divided into “classes” depending on the country in which they were developed. These classes include American, Asiatic, English, Mediterranean, and Continental (Northern European).
